EXT: IRAQI WAR ZONE - NIGHT
A bunker in the Iraqi war zone has been hit with an IED missile. The sandbags surrounding the bunker offered little protection for the wounded soldier, who lays there bleeding badly from his injuries. He cries out in a painful tone.
Tyler
Ahhh... Help! I've been hit!
Tyler (cont'd)
Mom... Dad.. Where are you? I need your hel...
Shelby
(slapping)
Wake up, soldier! You have no time to die. You have that beautiful young wife to get home to remember?
Look. We're all out of morphine, but I do have another option.
Tyler
Option...Yes, give me option. Please... Ahh... Hurry!
Tyler (cont'd)
(chuckling)
Thaannks Shelby... May I call you Shelby, sir?
Shelby
Medic! Medic! You're going to be fine now. We'll have you up and running in no time.

Yes Sir!
Shelby
Wait for me outside.
Gina
Of course Sir.
Shelby
And close the flap behind you.
Shelby
Oooh Tyler. Now, what do you think that pretty little wife of your would think of you carrying on with the like of that beautiful young nurse of yours? For some reason, I don't think she would be too happy.
Tyler
Well, Sir. I'm afraid it's a little late for shivery. You see. When she heard about me being banged up and all, she must have felt the need to cry on someone's shoulder till I got back. Problem is. His shoulder turned into mine through a dear John letter. So you see, "I'm the victim!"... Sir. And an even sadder part is. She sent the letter after I sent her my last paycheck.
Shelby
Well... I see you can't seem to catch a break. And to top it off, I caught you sleeping with the friendly. But if it's any comfort, I guess after all you've been through, I don't see how you could be hurt anymore. And I could see how you may need a little comfort. I'll keep quiet on this, but you can't continue it... understand?
Tyler
Of course Sir, and thanks.
Tyler (cont'd)
Sir. Could you come here for a sec?
Shelby
Now hold on soldier. I'm not that kind of comforter.
Tyler
No Sir. I was thinking of another kind of comfort.
Shelby
Oh that. Look, soldier. You were in need of some peace, and I was in need of some goodness. That was not meant to be a reoccurring thing. Besides, there's only one freebie per injury. And you have no compensation remember.
Tyler
Look. You know something about me, and I know something about you. Soooo. One more something is not going to make a difference.
Shelby
Go on...
Tyler
We both have been away from home for a long time. You give me what I need, and she gives you what I'm sure you would like..
Shelby
You mean... You can make that happen?
Tyler
I can make that happen. So, we good?
Shelby
Make it happen.
Shelby
How do you know I...
Tyler
A good businessman is always prepared... Sir.
Shelby
By the way. What does the nickname "Casper" mean?
Tyler
Oh, that. It's of Persian origin meaning "treasure giver". So be gentle with the treasure I'm loaning you. Now ask her to come in, I'll take care of the rest.
Tyler
Hey baby. I want you to do something for me.
Gina
You just have to ask baby...

GINA (whispering)
Soon... Because nothing can keep me from you... "You are the love of my time."
SHELBY
Oh, there you are. Man... You must really be rearing to go. I've been looking all over for you. You need to slow down. You'll make me think you don't want to be here with us anymore.
TYLER (chuckles)
Sir... If I had wings I would fly myself out of here. Now... I believe you have something for me.
SHELBY
Not so fast soldier boy. There is a stipulation to the orders that make it possible for you to get that medical discharge. We talked about it.
TYLER
I know, I know.
TYLER/SHELBY
Make sure to see the shrink.

TYLER
Who is it!
MARSHA
Well... Are you going to let me in or what? I mean, I'm not here to hurt you, I'm here to help.
TYLER
Help me with what? I don't need a doctor. Whatever your pushing, I don't need it either. What I need is PEACE!
MARSHA
I'm not pushing, I'm giving. Can we talk?
TYLER
Talk... Who are you? Are you alone?
MARSHA
Look Tyler. This is for you. But if you like being in the dark about things that have, and are about to happen, then I can just leave it at that. Is that what you want?
TYLER
Hands up!
MARSHA
But why? I'm a guess am I not?
TYLER
Lady. I've been through too much tonight to start trusting people now. I'll tell you what, "guest." You tell me why you're here in one short sentence, and I just might lower this game-changer and let you out of here alive.
MARSHA
I hope you don't think that that's the first, "game-changer," as you call it, I've had pointed at my face, because I can tell you it's not. Actually, it turns me on, having my life hanging in the balance. But then that's just me. My name is Marsha. Why don't you calm down and come sit here next to me? I have a story to tell you. Oh, you may want to grab yourself a stiff drink before you sit.
TYLER
You know, after all that's happened so far tonight, I think I will take you up on your offer. Can I bring you one?
MARSHA
No... I'm good. I never drink on the job.
TYLER
On the job.. Someone is paying you to be here? Oh, this has to be good. Give me a moment.
TYLER
Just in case I need more clarity. Now, You were saying?
MARSHA
Of course... First, let me start by saying I had no part in what's happened to you. You see. You were taken from an orphanage by certain people and brought up in a building that had been renovated to double as an experimental lab and home. What they proceeded to do to you is to give you all the intelligence that the most advanced computers could feed into your mind. This was done on a constant basis. Day and night you were fed certain information about specific subjects that they believed would become useful to them in the future. In essence. You are the first human "AI" being. Except, of course, you're not made out of any sort of metal or artificial tissues. … Your knowledge fully out measures that of any other human.
TYLER
Lady... I think it's time for you to go, because you must be crazy. How can this be true? I can barely remember my phone number, which of course I don't call very often. And you're trying to tell me I am some sort of manufactured knowledge freak. What this says to me is, your who needs a drink.
MARSHA
OK... Tell me something. Do you remember your mother? Your father? Any brothers or sisters? Friends that you played with growing up? When is the last time you remembered something from your deep past?
TYLER
Nothing... I don't remember anything from my younger past. Ohhh... But I know. You see... Not long ago, I was badly injured. I suffered head and body trauma from a bombing in the war. That's why. So the answer to your question is no. What else you got?
MARSHA
Tyler. That's not why you can't remember your past. I looked at your confidential records. No part of your head was injured. Your mind was suppressed. The scientist decided to hold your knowledge hostage when the overseers and funders of the experiment changed the deal and wanted to take you into their custody without the agreed-upon payment. The man you saw killed tonight was one of those scientists who helped create you... so to speak. Now he's dead. Others died in "so-called" car accidents and overdoses. In other words, murdered. Now there's only one left. And that one holds the trigger word that will bring everything back to you... Everything. The man who gave you a note in the bar. If that note has on it what I suspect, your life is not in danger, but your freedom is. They want you back. And it probably has the name of the last surviving scientist on it, who's no doubt in hiding.
TYLER (whispering)
Sheesh. We have company... Time to go.

TYLER
I'm going to give you one shot to get this right. I would pull my gun, but you already seem excited enough. Who are you, lady? Because whoever that was at my door didn't find me by wishing on a star. Now talk!
MARSHA
I don't know what you mean. And as for the intruder at the door, I have a real good feeling we are about to find out.
TYLER
What are you doing? Sit still while I try to get us out of this mess. Man... You are crazy. I wish I believed it was you they want. I would pull this car over and push you out. And if you don't show any concern about this situation, I just might do it anyway.
MARSHA
Push ME out. Now you wouldn't do that to your only sister, would you?
TYLER
Sister! Did you say, Sister? OK, give me a minute to lose these pests. You have a lot of explaining to do.

Nothing Sir. I was just saying... Well. I've been working all night and you have been parked here all night, that's all. I do know one thing though. A car pulled in sometime after you did and stopped by your car. Someone got out and carefully place a white piece of paper on your windshield. I assumed you had to be asleep. Now... Is there anything else you would like before I ring you up?
TYLER
No. this will be it. Oh, and you have to excuse me for my manners, it was a long day yesterday.

Of course, sir.

911 has come and gone, but the pain of that fateful day will never be forgotten. All those souls who died forever etched in our memories. But if that day has come and gone, why is it that the count of lives lost is still adding up? Not by the victims of that day, but by the victims left behind. Did that one act of terrorism cripple a City? Yes, for a moment. Did it cripple a Nation? Yes, for a lifetime. The fact of the matter is, the repercussions of that day are still being felt Worldwide. And for firefighter Trent Rosario and many others. The day he became "a Hero." Is the day he became, "A Dead Man."

TRENT (on phone)
Hello, and why is someone calling me before, what, 9:am on my day off? Whoever this is... It better be good.
TRENT(CONT'D) (on phone)
OK. Games... This is Trent Rosario signing off.
TYSON (on phone)
Cousin... Don't go. It's me, Tyson.
TRENT
What! Man, I know who this is. Boy... Why are you calling me this early in the morning? Did we not stay up half the night playing pool and talking? Socializing. Why are we talking, What, five or six hours later? Did you stay up the rest of the night thinking about that butt whipping I gave you? You want some more tonight. If so... Let me sleep.
TYSON (on phones/sniffing)
Trent! I'm in trouble. Real trouble. Before you say anything else, please. Turn on your TV.
TRENT (on phone)
OK, Mr. Tyson, I'm turning on the TV just for you.
He quickly sits up.
TRENT(CONT'D) (on phone)
What the... Tyson! What's going on?
TYSON (on phone)
I was hoping you could tell me, my cousin. I'm trapped in my office, I can hardly breathe, I'm looking at this gaping hole in the wall, and there's fire all around me. I want to talk to you, my cousin. I want to talk.
TRENT (on phone)
Talk! I'm coming down there right now. I'm coming to get you, just hang on...
TYSON (on phone)
Trent stop! Listen. There is nothing you can do for me. I believe people are jumping from the floors above and below me. I saw something... Someone... Heading down. Flying past this gaping hole I'm looking out of. Please, Trent. Just listen to me. I fear this is my last hour my cousin. Just talk to me. You can come down after I'm gone.
TYSON(CONT'D) (on phone)
I want to thank you for helping to raise me after my parents died in that stupid car wreck. When it seemed like I had no one, you were there for me. Filling in where your mom and dad couldn't. You are my best friend and I love you.
TRENT (on phone/lightly sobbing)
I love you too my cousin. We've been through a lot together. You will always be with me. Do you want to know what they say is happening?
TYSON (on phone)
Does it matter... I've made my peace with a higher power. You remember that pendant you gave me when we were kids? The one I wear around my neck. You told me it was a sign of our tight bond... Forever. Well, I had bought you something just yesterday. I wanted to give it to you. I had it inscribed "MIND-HEART-SOUL- BROTHERS FOREVER T & T." Hey... Look at the TV. Can you see me? I'm waving the red shirt out the gaping hole where my office wall use to be...
TRENT (on phone)
Yes! Yes! I-I can see you, my cousin.
TYSON (on phone)
Good. Trent... I want you to promise to do something for me. It may be hard, but it's important to me.
TRENT
Of course, whatever you want. Tell me.
TYSON (on phone)
First I want you to do your best to find my gift to you. My head hurts and I can't remember what I did with it. Search and find it. Second. I want you to watch me as I'm falling. Talking to me all the way. Can you do that for me, my cousin?
TRENT
No! How can I do that... How can I watch you... How?
TYSON (on phone/sniffing)
My beloved cousin. I'm already dead. I just need to hear your voice while I'm dying. It will make it easier for me. Please cousin.
TRENT (on phone)
OK... What do you want me to say?
TYSON (on phone/sobbing)
You remember that time when we were kids. Mom and Dad had taken us to Coney Island. You fell off the side of the boat into the water. You couldn't swim that well, and Dad and I had to jump in and save you. Remember?
TRENT
How could I forget that day? You know you embarrassed me pretty good. Being younger than me and having to save me.
TYSON (little chuckle)
Yeah... You've owed me for that one for a long time, but being with me now clears your debt my cousin. Now say you will be with me.
TRENT (on phone)
OK. Look... I know you have never been much of a religious man, but I would like to say a prayer with you. Would that be OK? I said... Would that be OK?
Tyson! Tyson!
TRENT(CONT'D)
Be at peace, my cousin.

TRENT (on phone)

MAMIE (on phone/sobbing)

TRENT (on phone)
OK Mom, OK. Try to take it...
MAMIE (on phone)
Are you at home? And Tyson... Is he with you? Please tell me you guys were out late last night and he didn't go to work this morning. Tell me he's at your house? Let me speak to him. Please!
TRENT (on phone)
Yes mom. We were out late last night. But no, he is not here. I believe he might have gone to work. Don't you worry, I'm going down there as soon as I can get my clothes on.
MAMIE (on phone/sobbing)
Oh, my son. My heart is breaking. If he is down there, he may be in trouble. I've tried calling him but I get no answer. And at the same time, if you go down there, you may find yourself in trouble too.
TRENT (on phone)
Mom... I'm a firefighter. I have to do my job, and that means going down there and helping my team, and helping people. Now, don't you worry, I will find him. In the meantime, you and Dad try to relax and keep up with the news. Don't call me mom. I will be extremely busy. But I will call you as soon as I have news. I'm sure he's OK.
